Atelier des 1000 is pleased to present for sale this superb Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, in a finish that is at once understated and distinguished, dressed in an elegant grey and silver two-tone paired with a sumptuous Scarlet red leather interior.
A true symbol of the refinement “so British”, it was also the first Rolls-Royce designed to be driven by its owner, a historic milestone proudly highlighted in the marque’s advertising, which presented it as the car to drive yourself.
The first Rolls-Royce to adopt a monocoque structure, the Silver Shadow marks a revolution for Crewe: more compact, more modern and easier to handle than its predecessors, it retains, however, all the mechanical nobility and the legendary craftsmanship that define the marque.
Model year 1974, this Silver Shadow benefits from the latest evolutions of the first generation: more precise power steering, hydropneumatic suspension and braking, as well as a TH400 automatic transmission with exceptional smoothness. The cabin, more refined and better insulated, illustrates the care for detail that is characteristic of Rolls-Royce.
The example we are presenting is distinguished by its harmonious presentation, its lovely original patina and its particularly desirable LHD configuration.
This exemplar was first delivered new on 28/ 02/ 1974, then imported into France in 2023 by its current owner. The latter benefited from a full overhaul at Brabo less than 1, 000 km ago, for over €20, 000 of works.
Mechanically, the car performs perfectly: the engine is in excellent health, starts easily, with no noise or smoke, and delivers power with exemplary smoothness. The fuel pump, spark plugs, battery and all belts have been replaced, and the engine has been serviced.
The automatic gearbox is soft and smooth, while the power steering ensures surprisingly good handling for a car of this size. The gearbox and differential have been serviced, and the drive shaft joints and wheel hub seals replaced.
The running gear shows no play and the overall behaviour is stable, healthy and perfectly balanced. Ball joints and gaiters have been replaced, as have the steering hoses.
The braking is particularly powerful and reassuring, with the calipers, discs, pads and handbrake shoes replaced and the braking pump, accumulator spheres and related valve gear reconditioned.
The chromed wheels present very well and are fitted with recent tyres.
The paintwork retains a beautiful consistent gloss, while the brightwork gleams to enhance the luxurious presentation of this Shadow.
The undersides appear healthy and free from corrosion.
Finally, the cabin captivates with a warm and refined atmosphere. The red leather upholstery, soft and nicely patinated, harmonises beautifully with the original veneered wood trim, offering authentic charm and character.
The carpets and interior trims are well preserved, while the wrapped Nardi wood steering wheel, replacing the original, echoes with elegant contrast to the wood on the dash. The whole exudes an irresistible aura, typical of Rolls-Royce of great tradition.
The onboard instrumentation is fully functional.
Given the configuration and condition of this vehicle, we are asking €29, 990. Trade-in and exchange considered.
