Exterior
Finished in the original factory Bermuda Blue Metallic and stunning. The paint has an outstanding finish. Stored dry and strictly used in dry weather only by me and the previous owner (one previous owner) again, this example has led to the ultimate cherished existence and has covered only 22, 500 miles. All light panels are beautifully straight with only a few pinhead-size front stone chips related to age. The electric bonnet is in perfect condition with an electric glass screen. The folding tonneau cover is also present. The HID headlights are clear and free of discolouration and the underside has been protected by Lano on 25 February and is very clean.
Interior
The dark grey sculpted leather sports seats are impeccably clean and lowered, so the driver is close to the chassis for a perfect driving feel. The driver's seat is slightly deformed. All displays, instrument digital readouts and controls work perfectly, including the (too) cold air conditioning and the original Honda audio system. The blank start area houses all the tools and the Mobil first aid kit.
Engine and transmission
The compact 2. 0-litre VTEC naturally aspirated F20C engine is mounted fully behind the front axle. Power output of 235 hp at an almost unheard-of 8, 300 rpm and 208 Nm of torque at 7, 500 rpm allows a 0–62 mph time of just over 6 seconds and a top speed of 150 mph. An immaculate engine bay up to the bright red rocker cover crackling with no usual desquamation. Identification plates, loose-head chassis stamp and coloured PDI stickers confirm the absolute originality of this astonishing example. The short-throw 6-speed gearbox is absolutely brilliant and enhances the redline to a maximum of 9, 000 rpm.
Wheels, tyres and brakes
The factory standard 16in sport alloys are in excellent condition and still retain the factory diamond-cut finish. The Bridgestone tyres measuring 205/ 55 R16 at the front and 225/ 50 R16 at the rear have been replaced as per the originals in 2023 with fewer than 2, 000 miles covered since the space-saver wheel has never left the boot. The anti-lock braking system (ABS) is equipped with ventilated front discs and solid rear discs to provide positive and assured stopping power.
History FILE
This Honda S2000 AP2 was built up to 2009 at Honda’s Takanezawa factory, alongside the NSX, and this premier British example was registered AO06 JBX, new on 19 March by the main dealer, Holden Honda, Norwich. The car has covered 22, 500 miles all of which are fully verified from new with a complete service history in the hands of only two owners, including me, aged 67, who acquired the car on 23 June. The original black Honda wallet contains all manuals, owner guides and dealership sale documents for the vehicle. The service booklet contains 16 stamped entries, all from the main Holden Honda dealer. The most recent specialist service was in 2023 at 20, 607 miles.
The beautifully presented service history file contains the corresponding Honda major and specialist service invoices, maintenance receipts and MOT documents. To complete the history file, there is an original S2000 sales brochure and a booklet for both sets of keys with remote fobs. Remaining exactly as Honda intended and preserved with wonderfully low mileage and a full service history, this cherished example is a must for anyone wanting a modern iconic classic and who appreciates it at a glance.
