The Atelier des 1000 is pleased to present today for sale this beautiful Triumph TR6 PI with overdrive, in an elegant configuration with its British Racing Green paint, its genuine black leather interior and a matching hood.
The TR6 stands out in the manufacturer’s line-up. Initially destined for the US market, the little British car is aimed at being tougher than its predecessors.
The PI version was produced only for the European market and offers a noticeable power increase.
Our example originates from the Netherlands, where it would have spent its life until its recent arrival at our workshop.
Its history file is provided, and it shows that this TR6 remained with the same owner from 1991 to 2008, then the next owner kept it from 2008 to 2022, having it serviced by a renowned marque specialist for almost 20 years.
Mechanically, the engine runs beautifully, starts easily, with no noises or smoke, and the set-up allows you to enjoy the six-cylinder’s pleasure.
Fuel-injected versions are known to be more spirited but also more technically demanding; the system has been revised by specialists, so it’s fully operational and the addition of electronic ignition provides modern reliability.
The starter motor and fuel pump have also been replaced with an upgraded unit.
The cooling system has not been neglected; the water pump, hoses and radiator cap have been recently replaced.
The gearbox shifts and locks its ratios correctly, and the overdrive is functional.
The running gear behaves well, and the steering shows no abnormal play, notably thanks to the replacement of the steering column bush.
The suspensions are effective and the shock absorbers perform their role perfectly.
Braking does its job properly and is balanced. The calipers and the primary master cylinder were replaced in 2022.
The Minilight-style wheels are in excellent condition and shod with tyres in good usable condition.
The bodywork of this Triumph is notable for largely presenting in its original paint. It retains a nice shine and sports a uniform patina to which we are not immune.
Inspection of the underbody reveals a particularly sound car with no perforating or structural corrosion.
All the chrome is gleaming, with the exception of the rear bumper which shows more pronounced patina.
The genuine leather upholstery is in good condition and shows a light patina that gives it charm.
The three-spoke wooden steering wheel and the walnut veneer dashboard are well preserved, and the instrumentation is functional.
The carpets are in presentable condition and as original.
The black vinyl hood is in good condition, and a black hood cover is also supplied.
Given its elegant configuration, its overall condition and the quality of its maintenance, this Triumph is offered at €28, 490.
