Characteristic Detail
Main activity: Coachbuilder of prestige automobiles.
Location: Lyon (Rhône, France). Their base in the same city as Rochet-Schneider facilitated collaboration.
Period of activity: Founded around 1919 (start of bodywork production); activity seems to have ceased around 1935, notably due to the reduction in production of passenger cars for their main clients.
Relation with Rochet-Schneider: They were their most important client. Billeter and Cartier dressed a large number of Rochet-Schneider chassis (such as the Limousine Type 26 Six no. 29539), but also earlier models such as Rochet-Schneider Type 25000.
Other Manufacturers: They also built coachwork for other prestigious brands, notably: Hispano-Suiza (such as the H6B Coupé de ville), Bugatti (such as Type 55 Cabriolet), Renault, Cottin-Desgouttes and Delage.
Style: They were renowned for traditional luxury coachwork, such as limousines and torpedo bodies, as well as sportier models like the Bugatti Type 55.
