L’Atelier des 1000 presents to you this elegant Mercedes-Benz 560 SL R107 in a particularly seductive configuration, pairing a Navy Blue finish with a grey leather interior. This iconic cabriolet wonderfully illustrates the automotive refinement of the 70s and 80s. Presented here in its top-of-the-range version, the 560 SL is the culmination of the R107 range with its powerful 5. 6-litre V8, its high level of equipment and Grand Tourisme orientation. A true concentration of Mercedes-Benz craftsmanship, the W107 still today stands as an indispensable reference in the world of classic cars. The 560 SL version, developed for the North American market, stands out for its great reliability, ease of use and remarkable versatility, offering enjoyable use, without compromise. Our example was originally delivered in the United States in January 1988, thus one of the last models produced. It benefits from the 1988 evolutions, offering optimised engine management, a smoother gearbox, firmer seat foams, a modern fuse box as well as better original equipment. The vehicle is accompanied by an extensive file of invoices, including over €30, 000 of maintenance over the last 15 years, testament to the constant care it has received. Particularly well optioned by its first owner, the vehicle features numerous options such as: • Perforated grey leather upholstery • Air conditioning • Electrically heated mirrors • Becker Grand Prix radio • Automatic aerial • Fold-down centre armrest • Sun visors with mirror and courtesy light • Thermally insulated windscreen • Blue tonneau cover fabric to match. Mechanically, the 5. 6L V8 starts easily, with no unusual noise or smoke, and delivers its power smoothly. Maintenance was carried out for the sale as well as replacement of the eight spark plugs. The engine compression readings have also been checked; they are within factory specifications and perfectly balanced. The timing chain, along with its guides and tensioners, has already been replaced. The fuel pump, fuel distributor and ignition service are recent. The automatic gearbox is smooth, with seamless gear changes and no snags. It has just been serviced with the sump drained, and the sump plug and timing cover gasket replaced. The differential has also been serviced for the occasion. The suspensions perform perfectly. All four dampers have been replaced with more modern units, giving this SL a handling that is both comfortable and precise. Numerous silent blocks and mounts have also been replaced to ensure perfect safety and excellent driving precision. The drive shaft boots and the ball joint rubbers (both lower and upper) are also new. The power steering box was replaced less than 30, 000 miles ago for over €3, 500, ensuring the system’s perfect operation, known as the Achilles’ heel of the model. The exhaust is in very good condition; it subtly enhances the round, characteristic V8 sound. Braking is powerful and balanced. The master cylinder and front calipers were replaced a few years ago, the rear flexibles and front pads are new. The original wheels are in very good condition and fitted with road-going tyres. The bodywork is in very good condition and the paint has a wonderful shine. The car has undergone a cosmetic refresh to refine its presentation, including repainting the wheels, the grille, and touching up paint defects on the rear hatch. All the chrome is brilliantly gleaming. The sills are very presentable and free of corrosion, like the rest of the vehicle. The blue alpaca fabric soft top is in excellent condition, it was replaced in 2012 and shows no noticeable marks or defects, underscoring once again the car’s maintenance quality. The original hard top is present and in very good condition. The interior, sober and elegant, typical of the marque, is well preserved and comfortable. The seat upholstery was redone about ten years ago, ensuring good support and a fine presentation of the trim. We note, however, a wear mark on the driver's seat, evidence of regular use of the car. The dashboard is in perfect condition, having undergone a complete rebuild to concours standard for around €4, 000, while the wood trim has just been replaced for sale. An optional rear bench can be installed for a 4-seat use. Given its configuration, overall condition and the quality of its maintenance history, this 560SL is offered at €28, 490.
