The APAL company (Application polyester armé Liège) is a Belgian automobile construction company founded in 1961 in Herstal and later located at Blegny-Trembleur, in the Liège region, by Edmond Pery and Bruno Vidick with the aim of building sports cars and buggies. They first produced a small coupe on a VW base. Then APAL manufactured Formula Vee single-seaters, but it was especially with the buggy on a German chassis and with a polyester glass fibre body that, during the 1970s, the APAL factory took off. In the early 1980s, Edmond Pery continued at the head of the company alone. At its peak, the factory produced up to five cars per day, with around fifty workers including Christian Devillers (workshop manager). APAL unfortunately went bankrupt in 2008.
The traditional buggy is deliverable on a standard VW chassis with an air-cooled VW engine of 1200 or 1300 cm3. It was produced in more than 4000 units by APAL.
