There are cars you buy. And there are ones you go and fetch.
This one, I went to find in Rome, in August 2021. The return journey was by road, through a large part of Italy — the passes, the villages, the looks of passers-by. A trip you only make once, with a car you don’t come across very often.
The car today
Since returning to France, it has been restored seriously and comprehensively: engine completely rebuilt, bodywork touch-ups, then tuning and inspection by a Fiat 500 specialist in Tours. It runs faultlessly, without compromise.
The original sport-type wheels have given way to white-wall tyres, truer to the spirit of the era. The old axles with their tyres are included in the sale — your choice of version.
The gearbox has been fitted with a fifth gear: real comfort on the road, without betraying the soul of the mechanics.
