The XK140 is the rarest and most sought-after model in the Jaguar XK range. It combines the elegant styling of the XK120 with the more technically advanced chassis of the XK150. These refined XK140s are equipped with rack-and-pinion steering, which translates to more precise handling and a much more comfortable driving position. Only 2, 789 examples of the XK140 Drophead Coupé were built, making it a fairly rare car.
This particular example was fully restored in the late 1990s, and it remains in very good condition. The paint quality is genuinely excellent, the interior is beautifully trimmed in dark blue leather with a contrasting shade, and the mohair hood fits perfectly. The engine (with "matching numbers") has had a C-type head from new and offers excellent performance. The original Moss four-speed gearbox is still in place, and gear changes are smooth and unusually easy. For greater driving comfort, the XK140 is fitted with electric power steering. The car sits on magnificent wire wheels with stainless steel spokes and period Michelin Radial X tyres.
