2005 Ford Mustang FR500C - 004
"Win on Sunday, sell on Monday
Factory-built, low-mileage race car
Eligible for the Masters GT Trophy
And of course, everyday track days
FIA GT4 homologation
In 2004, Ford Motor Company asked Canadian outfit Multimatic to design and build a run of race cars based on the Ford Racing FR500 (FR500 C) Mustang, already a very special car, and to give it the code name FR 500 C (Competition). Within Ford’s ranks, the car was affectionately known as the "Boy Racer". Multimatic was tasked with delivering a concept capable of winning IMSA Grand‑Cup, also known as the Koni Challenge. That’s exactly what the car went on to do in 2005 and 2007. In Europe, the FR500C, renowned for its reliability and cost‑effectiveness, became a popular entry in the SRO‑regulated GT4 series.
Today, the FR500C makes an excellent entry into the new "Masters GT Trophy" as well as a spectacular car for track days. Incidentally, the Spa Masters GT Trophy race in 2023, very wet, was won by a FR500C, proving that the 8. 8‑inch live axle offers good traction and grip in the wet!
The car for sale is the 4th built by Multimatic, out of a total of 48, and was piloted by Ford dealer Brad Lehmann for Champion Motorsports in 2007, having covered only 4, 000 miles. In 2011 the car was sold to Europe, where it has covered only a few hundred miles in two race weekends.
The sale includes a file with period documentation, including Multimatic’s original sales invoice, setup sheets, and the December 2005 Hemmings magazine, which extensively covers the car and the driver/ owner Brad Lehmann.
