For sale: 1955 oval Beetle (oval window)
The year 1955 has the particularity of having models produced only between January and the end of July; after the years/ models changed, Volkswagen went from August to August.
Originally a Swiss-export vehicle
Returned to France in the 1990s and was restored at that time (photos available).
Original 3-piece sliding sunroof (fully opening)
1200cc cast-stand engine (running perfectly) (there is simply a small oil leak to note—nothing major)
009 electronic distributor and 30 PICT carburettor with automatic choke to improve reliability, but both original parts are supplied.
Always 6-volt.
Split-case gearbox, working perfectly.
Mechanically original vehicle.
Lots of stainless fasteners, and parts were chrome-treated back in the day (no corrosion).
The interior was re-done very recently with period-correct fabrics and stitching. Seat frames have been powder-coated.
All body panels are original—no low-quality reproduction parts.

New brakes and shock absorbers
Engine oil change (Motul Classic 20W50) and gearbox oil change done.
Ready for a drive—there are a few minor imperfections. It hasn’t come out of a restoration that was done yesterday, so there are no nasty surprises from a badly executed restoration that won’t last or looks like it’s been camouflaged. Many original, quality parts—just like you could find back then.
