Description
The superb and elegant Triumph Stag was designed as a luxury convertible and produced from 1970 to 1977. This four-seat convertible was primarily aimed at the American market, hence the addition of a T-shaped roll bar (in accordance with American standards). Its graceful, elongated design is the work of Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti. The Triumph Stag was a luxury convertible with electric windows, power-assisted steering and power-assisted brakes.
This Triumph Stag, built in 1974, is exceptional in several respects. Originally from the Netherlands, it was registered there in 1975 and sold to its current owner. The latter still owns this magnificent convertible. The car is entirely original, and its serial numbers match. Over the years, its owner moved between several countries and has always taken his Triumph Stag with him. As a result, a very complete history is available for this car, including various documents from the Netherlands, the United States, Belgium, Spain and France.
It is clear that this car has been cherished by its owner. It remains in its original, unrestored condition, and its appearance is remarkable. This is exceptional for a car of this age. The exterior is in very good condition, as are the chrome work and fittings. The same goes for the rubber seals and trims. The body panels fit perfectly and the doors close properly. The hood/ soft top is slightly worn in places, but a new soft top is supplied separately.
The interior is also entirely original and in pristine condition. The artificial leather upholstery is in very good condition and the seats are especially comfortable. The chrome trim and fittings are also in good condition, as are the wood veneers. The dashboard is in excellent condition and all instruments operate correctly. It is clear that this car has been cared for with a great deal of attention.
Under the bonnet lies a magnificent V8 engine. The engine block has been completely rebuilt and various improvements have been made, such as the installation of electronic ignition, an upgraded radiator, timing chains, an additional fan, an optimised water pump, etc. This 2, 997 cc engine not only delivers a captivating sound but also sufficient power (147 bhp) and is paired with a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The original overdrive is easy to use and works perfectly, providing increased comfort at higher speeds. The car drives and shifts gears with great smoothness, and the braking is efficient and precise.
It is rare to find cars that are so well preserved and unrestored, in such impeccable condition. And even rarer to find a vehicle with such a complete history. That is why this magnificent Triumph Stag deserves another enthusiast who will cherish it and, of course, fully appreciate it!
