The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful convertibles in automotive history. Its elegant, clean design is by Pinin Farina, and it was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1955. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was sold in several versions, including this superb spider, the Spider.
This Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, fully restored, was built in 1961 and delivered in early 1962 by the English dealer Thomson & Taylor. Its first owner, a banker named Mr. Fitzherbert, had it immediately shipped to Boulogne with special English registration plates (Q-plates) and undertook numerous journeys across Europe since. A particularly welcome detail: the original purchase invoices and the original service/ warranty booklet are still present. In 1977, Mr. Janssen from the Netherlands acquired it. After remaining idle for almost 14 years, this Giulietta Spider underwent a complete and professional restoration by its second owner, including a full overhaul of the technical components. A detailed photo report accompanies the vehicle. First registered in the Netherlands in 1995, this magnificent Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider passed into the hands of its third and current Dutch owner about three years later. The latter has travelled across Europe aboard this elegant Italian classic and has taken part in several international rallies. A FIVA certificate is also provided. Furthermore, the car was also registered in Spain for a long period (from 2009 to 2024) due to a second home in Spain. It has now regained its original Dutch registration.
There is no doubt that this Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider has been looked after with the utmost care and passion. This is evident not only from the comprehensive paperwork provided, but especially from the immaculate condition of the car itself. In 2017 the original engine was completely rebuilt and the body repainted. What makes this car so special is that it retains all its matching numbers and its original colour scheme. It still wears its superb Rosso Alfa colour with black leather seats. Thanks to the meticulous care given by its three owners, it is in excellent condition. The red paintwork has a deep, bright gloss, and the chrome and fittings are also pristine. The rubber seals and finishes are likewise flawless. The panel gaps are precise and the doors close solidly. The black soft top is in very good condition (almost new).
The interior is impressive and in very good condition. The red carpeting complements the black leather seats, which are not only exceptionally comfortable but also in excellent condition. The dashboard is likewise immaculate. The instruments function perfectly and the chrome and fittings are in very good condition. The wood Nardi steering wheel is not only stunning, but also integrates perfectly with the interior.
Under the hood sits the original 1290 cm³ engine, fully rebuilt, producing 80 hp. More than enough power to drive this unique Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider with notable fluidity and sportiness. It is clear this car has been exceptionally well maintained. A substantial portion of the maintenance invoices is provided. The car runs and shifts with exceptional smoothness, and the braking is powerful and reliable. The steering is also very precise, which is quite normal.
This car is exceptional in many respects and now awaits the next enthusiast who will know how to care for this Italian jewel and, above all, fully enjoy it!
