Description
I am looking to sell my 1957 Morgan Plus Four, left-hand drive, which I am putting up for sale, “a genuine piece of automotive history with authentic charm”, MORGAN MOTOR LTD Malvern Link U. K., from 1957, Type 4, Distributor / Importer of the time, Jacques Savoye - Distributor – Serial order number of the type No. 3726. Originally equipped with a competition twin-carburettor.
Engine: In 1957, the Plus 4 was fitted with the Triumph TR3 engine (inline four-cylinder of 1991 cm3), developing around 101 hp. A lightweight driving machine, renowned for its liveliness and classic pre-war styling. Although invisible beneath the metalbodied body, the car is constructed using a robust, lightweight ash wood frame.
The car is in excellent overall condition, carefully protected and stored in a garage for several years. Main specifications noted on the registration document: First registration date: 27 February 1957, Make/ Model: MORGAN Plus Four, Number (E): 3726, (D. 1) Morgan, (D. 2) Plusfour, ((P. 1) (P. 2)) 1 999 cm3, (P. 6) 11 Maximum power 156 to 183 hp, Maximum torque (at 4, 500 rpm) 187 Nm, Transmission: Rear-wheel drive, Mileage stated as 1055 does not really make sense; the engine was overhauled by a classic car specialist, with a new electrical kit or distributor.
Condition and works needed: After several years of inactivity, the car deserves a light recommissioning: oil changes to perform (engine, cooling circuit, brakes), lubrication, Batteries to be replaced. Hood fabric to be redone, door glass missing, a very small refurbishment of the steering wheel to plan a radius, two stitching points on the two front seats (as usual), a scratch on the left running board.
The car is to be collected on site in Perpignan (66000). Asking price:
