The story behind this model:
The SLK is one of Mercedes’ finest ideas: bringing together, in a single car, the charm of a roadster, the safety of a coupe, and the magic of a retractable hardtop. Three letters for a simple philosophy: Sportlich, Leicht und Kurz—sporty, light and compact.
The R171 generation, launched in 2004, sharpens the SLK’s design with a long bonnet, a swept arrow-like front end, and a star sitting firmly at the centre of the grille. You can clearly feel the spirit of Mercedes Formula 1 and the legendary SLR McLaren—just in a more compact, more accessible, more fun-to-drive format.
In 2008, the facelift gives it even more character: revised bumpers, a modernised cabin, a three-spoke sport steering wheel, more refined driving feel… and above all on the SLK 350, a 3. 5L V6 boosted to 305 hp. A noble naturally aspirated engine—smooth and full at low revs, savage once you wake it up, and capable of turning an ordinary country road into a little moment of happiness.
