Description

I’m selling my Maserati Biturbo from January 1984 (42 years!!)… in Italian-spec, V6 at 90° configuration with a 2-litre, 18-valve 180bhp setup. (The 2. 5l versions were for export.) For fans of 1980s cars from the famous “De Tomaso” era: the typical 4-headlamp grille, rear light clusters in a strip like on the BMW 3 Series, and flat glass!

Sold to fund another four-wheeled project! No rush and no swaps, as the next one hasn’t been found yet :)

30 years in a dry barn—then out of storage in October 2022 in the east of France. Very good base: smart-looking bodywork after a careful polish.
Since then, nearly €9k has been invested in parts and 370+ hours of personal work in the evenings and at weekends.
Everything is documented, with for each day of work the actions carried out and time spent, plus hundreds of photos for every intervention.

In broad terms, from front to rear since it was brought back into action:

- H4 headlights and sidelights converted to LED to reduce consumption.
- Replacement of the boot and bonnet gas struts.
- Full top-end rebuild this winter, and IHI turbo rebuild kits. New head gaskets (machining done at YMA78), valve seats re-faced and valves lapped/ ground in, fully restored Weber 36 DCNVH 16/ 100 carburettor, fuel pressure regulator and hoses, new water pump, rebuilt alternator 65A + wiring harness, new spark plugs, new filters, Motul Le Mans 300V 10W60 oil, Restom coolant treatment. New engine mounts. New clutch slave and master? (emitter + receiver for the clutch) New intermediate shaft bearing, refurbished and made reliable.
- Gearbox and drain points refreshed with original-spec Agip.
- New exhaust silencer with twin chromed outlets.
- Restored air-con compressor with new camshaft? (new seal kits/ SPI seals) + oil; vacuumed and recharged with R134a.
- Front dampers reconditioned to new condition (specific kits), steering rack overhauled and new gaiters, new track-rod ends + new anti-roll bar links and bushings, new ball joints + stabiliser bar rods + silentblocks.
- 5x Toyo Proxes 195/ 60 R14 tyres — 1, 000km only. Brakes reconditioned (discs/ pads) and new wheel bearings.
- Fuel tank treated with Restom resin + new fuel pump, new fuel hoses and new filter. Runs with Facom additive and SP98 petrol.
- Electrics checked, interior lighting converted to LED. All gauges work.
- Alarm with doors opening. No head unit/ radio, but a small boosted amplified Bluetooth receiver is built in, feeding the original front speakers.
- Headlining fully re-done with the original material.
- Original jack and spare wheel included.
- Has door keys and ignition key, etc… etc…

There’s always a few things to do on a classic, but today it’s a very good car to get into the 40+ year scene without going broke!

Mileage has barely changed due to lack of time to drive on weekends. Last MOT/ technical inspection in August 2025—no advisory notes (normal registration, not a collection card). It will of course be done again for the sale.

Easy to maintain for a proper car enthusiast! No need for decades of experience or a 4-post lift!

This car is genuinely rare at meets, with a proper blast from the past… 4. 15m long, 4 proper seats, rear seatbelts, and only 1, 095kg!! In ‘84 spec: no power steering, no ABS, no intermediate silencer… each cylinder bank has its own turbo and its own outlet with that rough, specific 90° V6 sound—plus the little typical “pops and bangs” you get from turbocharged engines on the overrun/ decelleration :)

It will be sold with a current MOT/ technical inspection, with a detailed file and all photo copies, but with absolutely no warranty since I’m not a professional in the automotive trade.

As with all carburettor cars from the 1970s–80s, the later versions with fuel injection, intercoolers, hissy wastegates, power steering, ABS, ESP and a 10-inch GPS are always considered more reliable and look better to some people. But this is the first-generation Maserati Biturbo, and in its original Italian configuration, with interior leather and ribbed corduroy/ velour, and the 2. 0-litre V6 bi-turbo IHIl block!

A short video of the restoration is available on YouTube by searching for “Maserati Biturbo 1984”. If you can’t find it, I’ll send you the link by SMS.

I’m available for any further information. The car can be viewed in the 78 area near Versailles, to the west of the plain. No delivery, no cash mandate, and no remote reservation… Fixed price (cheaper than a brand-new Twingo) for a normal sale and under the usual practical rules of use!

See you soon.
