L’atelier des 1000 is delighted to offer for sale this 1999 Mini Cooper 40th Anniversary, presented in an elegant Mulberry Red specification, paired with a Grenadine Red interior and white piping.
Introduced in 1999, the Mini 40th Anniversary marks forty years of the famous British hatchback. Derived from the 1300 MPI and produced in a limited run of 800 cars, it signals the end of production of the original Mini. This special edition takes on the latest updates of the classic Mini while also receiving an exclusive, high-end specification.
It stands out in particular for its exclusive Mulberry Red paint, matching upholstery, a dashboard in brushed aluminium, and its many specific equipment items—making it today one of the most sought-after versions among collectors.
The example we are offering was originally delivered new to the Italian market before being imported into France in 2012, and it has had just one owner since its import. The Italian versions, limited to 300 examples, are distinguished by their specific 12-inch Minilight wheels and their “Mini 40” badges. Unlike other 40th Anniversary versions sold abroad, they were not equipped with the Sport Pack, thereby keeping the Mini’s original proportions.
The 1300 fuel-injected engine starts easily, running without noise or smoke. Its running is smooth, and it delivers its full power.
The gearbox is light and supple; it selects and engages its gears properly.
The running gear is in good condition, and the suspension does its job perfectly.
As for the braking, it is effective, well-balanced and reassuring.
The bodywork is in very good visual condition.
This year the paintwork has been fully redone in its original colour and now shows an excellent shine. The chrome trim and the various finishing details have also been replaced.
The underbody is sound and shows no corrosion.
The cabin is one of the highlights of this car. The burgundy leather seats are in excellent condition and remain pleasantly flexible, showing a light patina we particularly appreciate.
The knurled aluminium dashboard, the central dials, and the specific equipment for this anniversary edition all contribute to the unique, particularly upmarket atmosphere inside this Mini.
The Minilight wheels are in very good condition, running on Yokohama tyres.
