Porsche 911 3. 2 Carrera Lightweight – 1984.
For sale: a 1984 Porsche 911 3. 2 Carrera Coupé, completely rebuilt in lightweight specification. The car has been stripped to bare shell, with the bodywork laid bare, then rebuilt with a constant focus on reducing weight, improving rigidity and enhancing road manners.
It’s based on an original 3. 2 Carrera. During the restoration, the body has been lightened and strengthened. To achieve the lowest possible weight, glassfibre doors, a carbon-fibre roof, a glassfibre bonnet and various other lightened body components have been fitted. The side windows and rear screen are made from polycarbonate. Kerb weight is under 950 kg—significantly less than a standard 3. 2 Carrera.
The air-cooled, 3. 2-litre flat-six boxer engine has been fully overhauled. The chassis has also been modified and fitted with Bilstein Club Sport dampers, along with adjustable anti-roll bars at both the front and rear. In addition, the car is equipped with an SSI exhaust system featuring the classic twin outlet.
The interior is pared back and lightweight. It has bucket seats, an RS carpet kit and a roll cage. Non-essential parts have been removed to reduce weight even further.
