The story behind this model:
Shown in its X150 generation at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005, the Jaguar XK marked a major turning point for the British brand. Designed under the direction of Ian Callum, it retains the classic proportions of a big Jaguar — long bonnet, set-back cabin and fluid silhouette — while adopting an all-aluminium monocoque structure.
This lightweight, rigid architecture allows the XK to deliver more precise handling, while preserving the comfort and refinement you expect from a true Grand Tourer.
In 2009, Jaguar significantly evolved the XKR with the arrival of the 5. 0-litre AJ133 V8 with direct injection, paired with a supercharger. With 510 hp and 625 Nm of torque, it goes from 0 to 100 km/ h in about 4. 8 seconds, while retaining outstanding smoothness and versatility.
The XKR isn’t a hardcore, radical sports car — it’s a very rapid GT, capable of swallowing up miles in great comfort, then revealing an entirely different character when you really ask its V8. That duality is a big part of its appeal today.
Production of the XK line ends in 2014. The X150 therefore remains the last generation to carry this historic name, steadily increasing its interest among enthusiasts of big V8-powered GTs.
Design anecdote
The XK X150 takes inspiration from the Advanced Lightweight Coupé concept unveiled in 2005. Its deliberately clean, pared-back design was intended to modernise Jaguar without straying from the brand’s historical codes. You can, in particular, see references in its oval grille and certain proportions to the big Jaguar sports cars of the past, while also pointing towards the design language of models to come.
