Description
The Atelier des 1000 is pleased to present for sale today this beautiful Morgan Plus 4 Roadster in an elegant specification combining several shades of white and cream.
Among other features, the +4 has a wider body than the 4/ 4. From 1954 onwards, it was fitted with a Triumph engine derived from the TR2, developing 90hp. This update also introduced a curved grille and headlamps integrated into the wings.
In 1956, the TR3 engine replaced its predecessor and enabled the Plus 4 to reach the 100hp mark—this is the version fitted to our example.
This Morgan was delivered brand new on 13/ 01/ 1960 in Canada, before arriving in California. It was then imported into Europe in 2022.
A manufacturer’s certificate confirms the engine is Matching Number.
A thick history/ invoice file accompanies the vehicle, along with many period documents.
Mechanically, the car starts easily without any noise or smoke, and the revs are crisp. Various cooling hoses have recently been replaced. Electronic ignition has been added.
The original SU carburettors have been replaced by two Mikuni twin-choke units, giving it a more sporting character.
The gearbox engages and locks its gears properly, and the clutch has good free play.
The running gear rides well and the suspension is comfortable.
As for the brakes, they do their job correctly and are well balanced. They’ve recently been refurbished, including replacement of the flexible lines, the master cylinder and the rear wheel cylinders.
The alternator and starter motor have been replaced for sale.
The chrome wire wheels are fitted with Vredestein tyres.
The paintwork is in excellent condition, the overall finish is bright and we don’t note any major defects. As for the chrome, it is perfectly gleaming.
Inspection of the underside shows a solid, healthy car, free from perforating or structural corrosion.
The upholstery is in very good overall condition, showing a light patina that adds character.
The solid-wood dashboard is in excellent condition, as is the Brooklands steering wheel in Bakelite, supplied as a standard factory option. A wooden gear-lever knob completes this decidedly British cabin!
The carpets are in good presentation and are original specification.
The hood is in perfect condition, and we also have matching side screens.
Period Smiths cream-coloured instrumentation with an incredible patina.
Given the specification and condition of this vehicle, we are asking €27, 490.
Part exchange and swap are possible.
