Delivered new to Portugal in 1999 and remaining in the hands of the same owner ever since, this Mercedes-Benz G 300 Turbodiesel represents an exceptional example of the durability, build quality and engineering that have made the G-Class a true automotive icon.
Throughout most of its life, the vehicle has been maintained within the official Mercedes-Benz network, in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended service programmes. In recent years, this same philosophy of care and preservation has been maintained, with genuine Mercedes-Benz parts used for all work carried out.
It is equipped with the celebrated 3. 0-litre six-cylinder in-line OM606 turbodiesel engine, entirely original and never rebuilt. The engine runs remarkably well, whilst the overall condition of the vehicle is exceptional given its age and mileage.
The bodywork has been remarkably well preserved, whilst the interior shows very little wear. The original plastics have remained intact and all controls operate with that characteristic feeling of solidity found in Mercedes-Benz models of that era.
The quality of its preservation received international recognition in 2009, during the official celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, held at the Graz factory in Austria. The vehicle was distinguished as the G-Class with the highest mileage present at the event, whilst being considered one of the best-preserved examples. This recognition is particularly significant as Graz has been the production location for the G-Class since 1979.
The vehicle is accompanied by its original documentation, service records and maintenance history, as well as several genuine Mercedes-Benz accessories, notably an original roof box, purchased new and never used.
At a time when many G-Class models have been modified, have lost their original configuration or have experienced irregular maintenance, this example stands out for its authenticity, documented history and the remarkable continuity of its ownership and preservation.
More than simply an exceptional off-road vehicle, this G 300 Turbodiesel represents a true collector's piece, preserving a particularly important chapter in the history of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
