I am selling my 1978 Mercedes-Benz 280 CE, one of the most desirable versions of the C123 generation, with its 177 hp straight-six engine and automatic gearbox.
With its pillarless coupé bodywork, large glazed areas, chrome trim and a silhouette that is both understated and stately, this 280 CE embodies the Mercedes elegance of the 1970s in full. Its metallic grey paintwork and original Mercedes "Barock" alloy wheels accentuate a design that has become timeless.
Inside, the atmosphere is remarkably well preserved: mixed grey/ blue leatherette and cloth upholstery, trim, headliner and wood veneer are in very good condition. Only the dashboard shows a crack, a common fault on this model.
This Mercedes recently underwent an independent inspection. The engine starts easily from cold, holds a steady idle and shows no abnormal noise or suspicious smoke. The braking components, running gear, exhaust and rear axle revealed no faults during the examination.
The bodywork is in good overall condition, with no sign of impact damage or structural repair noted. The structure is sound and no perforating corrosion was found.
