Description
After much consideration, I am putting this 1967 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I up for sale – turning 60 next July – which has been in the family for more than 35 years.
Over all these years, this Rolls has been maintained with the greatest care. Beyond the routine servicing that any vehicle requires, whenever the ageing of a component became a little too pronounced, it was addressed in detail. This was the case, for example, with the small servo motor controlling the flow valve of the air conditioning circuit, which has just been fully stripped down for a concours-correct restoration.
What's more, I can say that this Rolls has been improved in many essential areas, notably braking, suspension, air conditioning and, above all, engine cooling.
Indeed, this massive 6230cc engine producing around 200bhp (torque figure unknown) deserved particular attention in hot weather. These precautions are, so to speak, no longer necessary since the cooling system has been entirely reworked and optimised, while nonetheless retaining the original operating principles.
The other work, which I will gladly describe on request to anyone genuinely interested, we can regard as routine maintenance, which has allowed this Rolls to run normally without any mechanical breakdown over these 35 years.
Of course, in this spirit, there are always possible improvement projects we can discuss together.
This Rolls was recently inspected by an expert, who described it as an exemplary example in remarkable condition. The asking price was determined on the basis of that inspection.
Today it is a car that can be used every day, even for journeys of several hundred kilometres, as we did for example in 2022, and in a level of comfort worthy of a true... Rolls!
