The Appeal

Perhaps one of the most iconic British cars of all time, the MGB GT is a car that should be on any collector or enthusiast's list.

It’s a vehicle that made waves with its design and style choices and came at a time when the MGB was quickly rising in popularity in both Europe and the United States.

As a bridge between a sporty roadster and a practical hatch, it’s easy to see why the GT model was a hit with consumers and continues to top the list of iconic classics.

This particular example is in excellent condition, and will no doubt fill the lucky new owner with pride for many years to come.

The History and Paperwork

 • Just two former keepers
 • Garage stored for 23 years
 • Previously rebuilt in 1987
 • Recommissioned by a well known MG specialist
 • Serviced in April 2022
 • Plenty of paperwork
 • V5C document present

This B GT began life in 1973, where it would be enjoyed by the first owner until 1978 before changing hands.

The second keeper then treasured the vehicle for many years, even treating the vehicle to a restoration in 1987, courtesy of Midget Gems. In 1999, the vehicle was retired to a garage, where it spent the next 23 years of its life.

In February 2022, the vehicle was freed of its dormant state and was recommissioned by a local MG specialist.

As part of this process, the car has been treated with a full service, new fuel lines, new fuel pump, new tyres, new batteries, new condenser & points, stainless steel exhaust, stainless steel fuel tank and more. Now, this fantastic MGB GT requires nothing to be enjoyed on the road once more and is raring to go.

The vehicle comes with a fantastic amount of paperwork, which includes invoices for previous parts & labour, previous MOT certificates, and the V5C document.

There are also key invoices that detail the restoration process in 1987, and historical photographs of the vehicle.

The Interior

 • Original interior
 • Excellent condition
 • Moto-Lita steering wheel

Rather remarkably, this gorgeous GT retains the original interior and does so in spectacular fashion.

Both front seats present themselves fantastically, showing minimal signs of wear. The rear bench is also in excellent condition, having perhaps only ever been used a mere handful of times throughout the vehicle’s life.

Both door cards & the black carpeting found throughout the cabin unsurprisingly, are also in excellent condition and show very minimal signs of the wear & tear often seen with other examples.

In keeping with the rest of the interior, the matching headliner and sun visors have also been well preserved, adding to the charm of this fantastic MG.

As is a welcome tradition on MGB models, this interior is also equipped with a sleek Moto-Lita steering wheel, to provide just that extra touch of sportiness and class.

The Exterior

 • Excellent condition
 • 4 Spoke alloys
 • Lower front spoiler
 • Iconic British styling

The MGB GT truly is one of the finer-looking British classics, and gladly shows off its pioneering greenhouse roof design and classy body lines with pride.

This particular example does the design proud and presents itself beautifully in its stunning red paintwork.

The paintwork is in excellent condition, with no noticeable defects other than exceptionally minor stone chips. All badges, chrome trim pieces and lights are in a similar condition, showing very few signs of age indeed.

As you may notice, the car is also fitted with a lower front spoiler, which truly transforms the appearance of the sporty hatch-coupe. In addition to adding a dash of flair, the splitter has plenty of practical benefits and helps this GT feel planted on the road at higher speeds.

All four wheels are also in excellent condition and suit the sporty style of this vehicle perfectly. The 4 spoke wheels are wrapped in a matching set of Uniroyal tyres, widely renowned for their both wet and dry performance. They’re also quite a meaty tyre, giving plenty of sidewall to fill the arches.

The overall aesthetics of this vehicle are a perfect nod to iconic British styling and with this GT being in such good condition, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better-looking example on today’s market.

The Mechanics

 • 1798cc engine
 • Performs fantastically
 • Overdrive in full working order
 • Stainless steel fuel tank
 • Stainless steel exhaust
 • New batteries
 • New tyres
 • Plenty of new parts
 • Recently serviced

Buyers will be pleased to know that this MG fires up right away, and performs without issue.

The peppy 1.8L engine is certainly in a very healthy state, giving this feisty GT more than enough power to party. Perhaps one of the best performing examples on the market, the car happily revs through the gears, doing so whilst delivering a tasty exhaust note through the Stainless steel system.

The vehicle benefits from a vast array of new parts, including a new fuel pump, stainless exhaust, two new 6V batteries, new fuel lines, 4 new tyres, and a new condenser & points.

As a result, this MGB GT presents itself with no known mechanical or electrical issues and is more than ready to be enjoyed in the sun by the new owner.

Summary

This gorgeous MGB GT is one of the finest examples on the global market and presents buyers with the rare opportunity to own a low owner example of the iconic classic.

The car is in perfect working order, requires nothing to be enjoyed and is sure to provide endless enjoyment out on the roads.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 5-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000 to £100,000 £500.00
£100,000+ £1000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
