1976 Chrysler Cordoba

Vendor supplied images

Highlights

  • Enormous luxury car, clocking in at nearly 18ft long
  • Lush padded leather interior
  • Highest-specification 6.6L B V8 powerplant
  • Valid ITV until 2026

The Appeal

Introduced in 1975, the Cordoba is perhaps one of the most quintessential representations of the full-sized luxury car. Conjuring up everything from stetson-wearing oil tycoons to suit-bedecked executives, the Cordoba was no record-breaker, but it was certainly an aspirational motor for American public.

This one, still bedecked in its impressive Corinthian leather interior, is a super-sized example of sheer American glamour, and has been lucky enough to spend over 20 years in the dry climes of Spain.

The History and Paperwork

  • Sadly we don’t know much about the history of this car
  • Built in 1976 at Chrysler’s Windsor Assembly in Ontario
  • At some point, the car arrived in Spain, where it is now registered as a historic vehicle
  • Purchased by the vendor some twenty years ago in Palma de Mallorca
  • The car indicates 73,393 miles on a five-figure odometer
  • We can’t verify this mileage, but it is fairly in line with the car’s condition
  • The vendor informs us that the car has a valid ITV until 2026

The Interior

  • Exceptional and luxurious interior
  • Entirely original with no modifications we can highlight

  • Boot is in good order with a spare wheel

The Exterior

  • Car is simply enormous, with striking lashes of chrome
  • Impressive pale yellow colour scheme - perfectly matching the car
  • Bodywork appears solid throughout with no dents or dings
  • We can’t spot any signs of corrosion
  • Some light blemishing and paint loss on the car’s angular edging
  • Coachlines present nicely with no faults we can spot
  • Chrome trims present well with a light patina
  • Plenty of Chrysler crest branding - note the brake light lenses!
  • All lenses and glasswork is very well presented with no faults we can highlight
  • Brown vinyl roof covering appears in good order with only light wear
  • Car is sitting on its original wire-spoke wheels that present nicely
  • Shod in a full set of white-trimmed Michelin tyres
  • Underneath, the car shows surface corrosion but nothing of a serious nature

The Mechanics

  • Powered by the car’s highest-appointed powerplant
  • 400ci 6.6L B V8 ‘Big-Block’ powerplant
  • 3-speed A727 Automatic transmission
  • Engine bay looks heavily original and appears in good order
  • The car is reportedly starting first time with no faults to highlight
  • No reports of leaks, bangs, knocks or smoke from the engine bay

Summary

Practically the perfect representation of American 1980s excess, this Cordoba is a simply enormous, beautifully-kept land-liner that’s packed full of luxurious leather trim and crest-carrying detail. There’s no denying its evocative period charm.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000 to £100,000 £500.00
£100,000+ £1000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you’re able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
