The Appeal
Daimler were known for their luxurious automobiles, and this extended wheelbase, limousine, example is no different. From its sleek exterior lines to its leatherette and wood interior it is a very beautiful looking quirky classic.
The current owner has recently got the carburettors refurbished and the engine tuned, this means that it now runs well and should be an excellent addition to your garage or business.
The History and Paperwork
- This Daimler has quite a nice history that is all present within the paperwork
- Along with some old official documents, like an old-style V5, there are some lovely pieces of Daimler literature
- Some of these include nicely bound Jaguar Daimler handbooks
- And also one specific handbook for the Daimler Limousine itself
- It is also said that the original Daimler map of England is also still present
- There are also some old MOTs, tax reminders, and invoices
- Being MOT'd on 25th November 2022
- The two invoices present in the paperwork photo are for the previously mentioned carb refurb, engine tune, and some work to some electrics
- It is now said to drive down the road really nicely
- Before the current owner acquired the car in 2020 it had been part of a funeral companies fleet for around 15 years
- This would usually infer that it has been looked after properly
- Before the funeral directors however it is a little bit difficult to trace, but given the age, it is unlikely to have had many owners
- All that is left to do is get in and enjoy the comfortable nature of Daimler
The Interior
- Inside, this Daimler looks very nice indeed
- Upon opening one of the four doors you’ll be hit with that distinct smell of leatherette and wood
- Being the limousine, it has an extra set of seats in the middle of the wheelbase
- These middle seats appear to fold up neatly when not in use and stow just below the partition
- When needed these seats will pop up and into place, the leatherette on these seats looks to be in great condition
- Sticking in the rear, the two, full-sized, seats also look amazing
- Trimmed in this grey leatherette they look very comfortable to sit in
- With an armrest on either side for your rear passengers, they will not be complaining about ride quality back here
- Upfront you’ll notice that the driver’s compartment is finished in a darker black
- Probably a way to distinguish between owner and chauffeur they are still presented very well indeed
- Up front, there are also a lot of wooden elements
- Split across the door capping’s and dashboard all of the wood on the inside of this Daimler looks great
- Retaining a nice sheen on the varnish it doesn’t show its age at all
- The headliner and carpets are both presented well
- A great feature, if you do not wish to be distracted by the rear passengers is the partition
- Pulling across the screens will isolate you from the rear and allow you to enjoy driving this car
- If you’re looking at this car as more of a business purchase to ferry clients around
- Then this should be ready to go
- The leatherette is nice and clean in the rear and twinned with the extra seats in the middle it’ll make for an individual way to travel
- A great little USP for your business
- Overall, the interior is in great condition and just ready to receive its next passengers
The Exterior
- Outside the styling is Daimler
- The large rounded rectangular grille dominates the front of the well-proportioned vehicle
- On either side of the grille are two headlights, a nice nod to Daimlers sister company at the time, Jaguar
- Being the limousine variant, the car is a bit longer than other Daimlers
- But, with nice flowing lines it is a very professional looking car
- Across the panels, the paintwork is in good condition, with only one mark being highlighted by the photos
- All four of the Daimler hubcaps are also still in place
- Adorning both the front and rear you’ll find two chrome bumpers
- Again, these appear to be in lovely condition as well
- Much like the interior, the exterior portrays a very clean and professional looking car
- This will make for an excellent addition to your collection, or fleet of professional vehicles
- To further show the pure professional nature of the Daimler Limousine, even the Royal Household had a few for state occasions
The Mechanics
- Under the bonnet, you’ll find Jaguar's legendary 4.2l straight six
- In production for over 40 years by 1985 they had had time to iron out any kinks
- As such the powerplant fitted to this Limousine is an excellent engine
- The current owner has just spent over £1,000 giving it some TLC
- This included having the carburettors refurbished and the engine balance/tuned
- Thanks to this work the engine now runs beautifully
- Behind the 4.2l engine is a smooth 3-speed automatic gearbox
- Providing nice changes, it just adds to the comfort of this lovely classic
- This should be an effortless addition to your fleet
- Anyone should be able to get in and drive it without having to worry about how to drive it
- Spare door in the back of the car, original and unpainted
