- Well-kept cruiser-style motorcycle
- Owned & maintained by mechanic owner since 2003
The Virago is Yamaha's first-ever V-Twin motorcycle, initially released in 1981 with various models released up until 2007 when production ceased. Known for their impeccable reliability and easy-to-control performance, the Virago was popular across eastern Asian countries, as well as the western markets, competing against more familiar cruiser-style bikes from Harley-Davidson and Kawaski.
This XV400 is widely considered an easy and enjoyable motorcycle to ride making it an ideal option for the more inexperienced biker thanks to its unintimidating performance and affordable maintenance.

- V5c present
- In current ownership since 2003
- Maintained and used by Mechanic owner
- Kept stored in an outbuilding
- Selling due to age
- Well-kept good condition
- Small wear on the seat
- Minor age-related marks throughout
The cruiser-style motorcycle is a timeless and boundless design that has frequently been used by various manufacturers throughout history and still to this day attracts the biker looking for a more mature and comfortable ride. The Virago is everything a good cruiser should be, a V-Twin engine, a pleasant and comfortable upright riding position, a bike that's pleasurable and enjoyable over any distance.
The condition of this one is good but with a few signs of wear and age present, most of which have been photographed. There are a few additional but subtle styling details around the bike, skull heads at the end of the brake levers and rear number plate surround for example. A little bit of rebel on an otherwise mature bike.
- 398cc Air-Cooled V-Twin Engine
- Shaft Driven
- Maintained by mechanic owner
During our visit, the bike was manoeuvred out of the outbuilding it calls home and positioned for the photographer. The bike has rarely been used over the past few years for various personal reasons but on request, the key was turned and the engine started with no hesitation and provided an enjoyable but not intrusive exhaust note. All maintenance has been carried out by the current keeper who spent the majority of their life working as a mechanic and thanks to its reliable running gear, very little other than regular servicing has been required. The tyres will need replacing soon due and an MOT is required.
The Virago XV400 is a great motorcycle for novice riders, easy to control power and a comfortable, pleasant ride no matter the distance. Its reliability and affordability make it a motorcycle worth considering and this bike's general well-kept condition should mean an MOT should be achievable without too much hassle or cost.
