The Appeal
Dubbed as simply the ‘C4S’ amongst 996 enthusiasts, the 911 Carrera 4S borrows the wide body, suspension and brakes from the capable Turbo models. Instead powered by Porsche’s naturally aspirated 3.6-litre flat-six, the C4S is considered by some a purer driving experience, with a soundtrack and power delivery more akin to Porsche’s early 911s.
Here we have a very attractive convertible example, resplendent in the rather fetching shade of Cobalt Blue which really sets off that sleek styling. It is really smart both inside and out, the vendor informing us that it has been judiciously serviced throughout its life and remains in excellent working order. If you’re looking for a cabriolet that boasts impressive performance, this 911 would be a great option.

The Interior

The Carrera 4S is a great place to sit with the roof up or down. Heated front seats mean you can enjoy the convertible experience long into the colder months and we’re informed that the climate controls all work as they should. The grey leather upholstery looks really smart and while the seats display a little wear, they are in very good shape considering the car’s age.
There is also very little wear to the controls and while we could see a few small marks on the dashboard around the switchgear, there was really nothing of note. Audio comes courtesy of a six CD multichanger which we’re informed works really well.
Carpeting throughout appears in good usable order and the door cards look to be in great shape. The centre console which is finished in body colour, harks back to earlier cars and looks to be in good condition.
Stainless steel door entry guards contribute to the premium feel and there is also a wind deflector fitted.
The Exterior

We really love the colour of this Porsche and it perfectly complements the grey upholstery and attractive ‘Turbo twist’ alloys. The wheels themselves look to be in really good condition and the vendor informs us that the front tyres have been replaced, the rears still having a little life left in them.
The paint finish looks to be very good and the vendor does not report any significant marks or scratches. All the bodywork looks smart too and we couldn’t see any corrosion. This 911’s partypiece, the soft top convertible roof, operates smoothly and the fabric is in fine condition.

In early 2022, the car received a new battery, sports exhaust and a major service. As a result, the vendor informs us that it is in fine running order and drives exceptionally. The flat-six runs really well and is quite vocal with the new sports exhaust fitted. Driving this Porsche is a real pleasure and with modern conveniences like rear parking assist, it is easy to live with and use regularly.
Summary
This is a really smart example of the coveted 996 Carrera 4S. With the added benefit of a convertible roof, this is an especially enjoyable car that deserves to be used as much as possible.
