Highlights
- Seemingly complete, original and apparently unrestored
- Presented in good overall cosmetic condition
- Great potential as a recommissioning project
The Appeal
After Fiat director Óscar Ravá fled to Spain during the Second World War, he made a deal with Moto Guzzi whereby he was able to produce their motorcycles in Spain. Thus, Moto Guzzi Hispania was formed and their small capacity bikes proved very popular.
Here we have a well preserved original example, dating from some time during the 1960s. In present ownership since 2021, the bike has been in storage and therefore will require some recommissioning work before it can be used once more. It was acquired without paperwork, so we’re unsure of what exactly it dates from. It shall certainly be an interesting project for this Moto Guzzi’s next owner to find out exactly when it was manufactured.
The History and Paperwork
- Offered without paperwork
- Acquired in 2021 and stored ever since
- The vendor informs us that they have been unable to identify a VIN
- We’re unsure of when this bike was made
- A registration number is written on the plate bracket, although no plate is attached or supplied
The Condition
- Seemingly complete, original and apparently unrestored
- The red paintwork looks to be quite smart, with remarkably few notable blemishes
- Lightly patinated, with some small imperfections here and there as well as a couple if runs in the finish
- No signs of excessive corrosion to the frame or fuel tank
- No big dents visible in the tank or bodywork
- The pinstriping remains in good order overall, with just a few marks
- Very little wear to the seat upholstery
- The grips and foot pegs present well
- Complete with lights and instruments
- The chromework is in good condition for its age, with some slight dulling
- The wheels seem in good order, as do the tyres although these are likely quite old
The Mechanics
- 98 cc single cylinder two-stroke engine
- Has not been run in present ownership
- Likely in need of some recommissioning
- No record of its mechanical condition is present
Summary
This stylish little Moto Guzzi Hispania looks like a great recommissioning project. They’re very simple machines, so it’s likely that a competent mechanic will be able to get it up and running fairly swiftly.
