The Daimler Coupe's are even rarer and more luxuriously appointed than their Jaguar stablemates. Both will happily carry four occupants with room for all their luggage across counties in style and luxury. Officially recognised as Sir William Lyons final design, these 'Big Coupe's' were surely the epitome of Jaguar's 'Grace, Pace & Space' philosophy. Add to the fact that they are rarer than an E-type Series 1, good quality cars are a surefire investment.
This particular Daimler Sovereign Two Door (as it's officially known) has a provenance befitting it's regal lines - both the Chief Magistrate of the City of London and the 655th Lord Mayor of London were previous owners.
Also a rare totally matching numbers car which is verified on the body, chassis and gearbox as well as the original stamped engine bay plate. This is further confirmed by the new Jaguar / Daimler Heritage Trust Certification which details the car being originally supplied to Jaguar main dealership, Mann Egerton. This is also supported by the stamped the Service to Passport booklet up to 48, 000 miles prior to restoration.
This Daimler Coupe is a genuine joy to own and drive. The carbureted XK 4. 2 feels refined and swift, the gear changes are silky smooth and the steering remains effortless as it should be.
Everything on the car has either been reconditioned or replaced as new using only Jaguar parts from trusted suppliers.
The car isn't perfect in every way as it's a 42 year old Jaguar, there are a few imperfections here and there, the rear chrome centre section could be shinier, but nothing that detracts. Certainly one of the finest around and in the classiest colour combination.
