1963 Lancia Flaminia 3B Coupé Pininfarina

The Pininfarina coupé in the Lancia Flaminia series was given its first performance boost in October 1962, a good six months after the Touring GT. Three Solex carburettors instead of one increased its power to 128 hp, adding the initials 3B to the boot. The second series of the Flaminia coupé followed at the end of 1963. It only featured the 2. 8-litre engine, along with a few modified and streamlined details.
Lancia’s Munich dealership, Auto König, delivered this Flaminia coupé to an architect in early August 1963. Besides the original warranty certificate, the original prospectus has also survived, including the notes on the paid extras. Added to the fairly hefty base price of DM 23, 950 were beige leather fittings to match the dark blue paint that put another DM 1, 460 on top. The radio cost DM 700, while shipping to Munich was DM 450. Only the first owner is noted in the original cardboard registration document. He deregistered the Flaminia in 1976 and sold the vehicle to Switzerland. From there, the elegant coupé returned to Munich at the end of the 1980s, remaining with just one owner until it was included in the consignor’s collection. Evidently, the Lancia was refurbished some time ago, as can be seen in the older coat of paint. The original 2. 5-litre V6 engine was also replaced with a 2. 8-litre unit. Besides the above documents, the car comes with the original German operating instructions to round off the wonderful history of this Flaminia. It is somewhat unlikely that a second specimen with a comparable history will ever be found!
