Here for sale we have this lovely Series 3, with 300TDI conversion. On the outside, there are lots of nice period features such as lamp-guards front and rear, vintage numberplates and original galvanised cappings. Some modern touches have been added, such as rear mudflaps and a towbar and electrics to allow towing. The vehicle sits on modular style wheels and tyres, giving a nice stance - free wheeling hubs have also been fitted to improve fuel economy and reduce front axle wear.
The interior is largely standard with three standard front seats with deluxe matting to the footwells. There is also some interior trim which covers the front of the bulkhead to improve sound deadening, and a kill switch with key positioned underneath the dashboard. The rear is unfitted and houses a load mat along with the spare tyre.
Out on the road is perhaps where this old girl shines - the 300TDI conversion with an overdrive transforms the driving experience, allowing this vehicle to keep with modern traffic with ease. It has pinpoint sharp brakes with light steering and a slick gear change, and the overdrive allows relaxed cruising whilst achieving 40mpg. It is a joy to drive on the road, providing an impressive experience not paralleled by the standard machines of this age.
