Renaissance Classic Sports Cars are extremely proud to present this striking and collectable BMW Z3M Coupe.
Originally developed by a group of BMW engineers and designers that were looking to improve upon the Z3 convertible chassis, the board of directors finally green lit the program after many discussions, but under the proviso that production costs were kept to a minimum. The end result was the Z3M Coupe.
Launched in 1998, while still sharing many exterior and interior components with its Z3 sibling, the eye catching redesigned rear end and hard top (affectionately referred to as the “Bread Van” design by enthusiasts and owners) improved torsional stiffness dramatically, this lead to enriched driver feedback and handling characteristics. This improved stiffness, the powerful performance engine and 5speed gearbox from the E36 M3, combined with the lighter weight and already entertaining rear-wheel-drive platform of the Z3, made for a fantastic enthusiasts package! Winning the Z3M Coupe many accolades from the Automotive Press and performance drivers a like.
Despite the vehicle’s performance capabilities, the controversial styling produced slow order numbers, when production ended in 2002 only a little over 3000 ZM Coupes had been made. This end of production, although sad at the time for the model’s supporters, is great news for today’s enthusiasts and collectors! With only 821 of these right hand drive, S50 M3 engine examples listed on the BMW registry – it makes this car incredibly rare and desirable, with real appreciating residual value potential.
This particular example has even more added appeal by being finished in the visually stunning Dakar Yellow. This colour option was only available for two years of production and research seems to suggest less than 50 RHD cars were ever painted in this colour from the factory, all of which adds to the collector appeal. The interior has been upholstered in a simple and contrasting Black Nappa leather, which due to the vehicle’s low mileage is still in outstanding condition.
