Description

This car was bought new by her present owner in Braubach, West Germany in late 1979, he then completed eight Services over some 54, 000-klms before shipping the car, when he emigrated to South Africa. The first service in Johannesburg by JSN-BMW was conducted in August 1981 by which time the service log reflects 62, 600 klms.

This one-owner car continued to reside in Johannesburg – a rust-free environment for cars due to the dry climate at high altitude - until recent times when her owner moved to Cape Town to retire. The car has an odometer reading of some 155, 000 klms now and has always been properly serviced by BMW Agents and/ or specialist BMW Workshops. This is obviously a car that has been cherished, and properly garaged throughout from new to date. Furthermore, there is no sign of any rust. The owner is so attached to his car that he will not even leave her on display in the Cape Town showroom.

The car has the desirable dog-leg 5-speed Manual transmission, Sunroof – which is fully operational, Electric window operation, Recaro-type Sports seats for the period – in Black Leather, Alpina boot-lid spoiler, Alpina Steering Wheel, Alpina period alloy-wheels, and clearly other enhancements such as the cross-brace to the front suspension struts.

We are not able to ascertain exactly what else was done to the car by ALPINA, clearly not a Turbo conversion and no model tag identifiers either – but the owner insists that it was “upgraded” by ALPINA before delivery. If there is anyone who can shed more light on the matter please contact me for the original matching numbers of the car.

Apart from the above confusion, this car is in well above average condition, is still per original when new, and has never been resprayed or restored in any manner. The brilliant HENNA RED paintwork still gleams, and although the Black leather interior is original it shows no signs of damage, scratches, or tears. The car comes with her original tool-kit, jack, spare-wheel and Handbook set (in German).

The GBP25, 100 asking price includes the entire export documentation and inspections procedure plus single car container shipment to land at either London Gateway or Rotterdam.

Where else can you find a 635i Series 1 example that has never been welded or in an accident from new?
