Description
Buick McLaughlin series 90 limited 8-passenger limousine. Built in 1937 and supplied to the war office for Winston Churchill's Staff car. This car was ordered in right hand drive and made in the Mclaughlin factory in Canada.
Originally finished in black with Bedford cord interior. After its War service with Winston Churchill the car was sold in 1940 to a private hire company in London, who eventually sold it to a Taxi and Limousine firm in Minehead. After some years of hire, the car was allowed to deteriorate somewhat. The car was then sold to a restoration company 20 years ago who painstakingly restored it to its present day condition. The car was fully striped to bare metal and every mechanical component removed. The colour of deep blue and cream was chosen. The interior was completely re-trimmed in cream connoly hide using 8 whole hides! The mechanical components were replaced/ overhauled , engine rebuilt, all assembled and now in concours condition. The glass division and intercom are amusing features of this wonderful car with an interesting past and not a hint of cigar smoke anymore!
