Beschreibung
This car started life as a 1970 PORSCHE 911T COUPE Manual LHD which was based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Thereafter, about 15-years ago, Tim Abbott the master craftsman of ABBOT PORSCHE Racing Workshop fame undertook a comprehensive and intensive bare-metal ground-upwards restoration of the car while it was being converted to a 1973 PORSCHE 911RS clone.
Subsequently, the car was once more given a total make-over in 20113/ 4 by the superb workshops and extremely competent team brought together under the banner of DUTCHMANN WRS (WEEKEND RACER SERIES). The technical-rebuild included Paint, Bodywork, Motor, etc.; the aspects managed by Rob Scott were the 2. 7 motor complete with S-specification cams and naturally the gearbox,-transmission – including such niceties as the 16” FUCHS (7J and 8J) wheels in conjunction with 2004 MY Porsche 4-Pot Disc Brakes. The beautifully finished Grey Leather bespoke interior is perfectly rounded-off with a genuine 270mm ’73 RS Steering Wheel.
Such is the perfection, knowhow and competency of this Company in producing the car; that they received international press coverage – for example refer to copy of the magazine CLASSIC PORSCHE No. 25 September/ October 2014, which did a review and road test of this particular car. This car is No. 2 of what are now 17 cars in their Classic Porsche range. Back in 2014 she was ear-marked for a Canadian buyer, but ultimately remained in a Johannesburg, South Africa collection once more.
I believe the following quote from DUTCHMANN of their philosophy just about says it all;
“In the late 1960's, as Porsche launched its now iconic 911 model, the factory also supplied "Factory Rally Kits" which included anti-roll bars, racing brake-pads and a dead-pedal rest as optional extras to private owners. These "Privateer" rally enthusiasts would compete on the track on the weekend whilst still using their beloved vehicles for daily commutes. This notion lead us to develop our Porsche Weekend Racer Series in 2013, now comprising a wide of range of classic and contemporary Porsches that deliver safe, reliable, high performance motoring. Our Porsche Weekend Racers carry a unique mix of classic and contemporary Porsche engineering, wrapped in a Dutchmann-inspired package. The 911 platform is highly modular allowing us to integrate original and contemporary Porsche components into the classic 911 shell making our Weekend Racers faster, safer and more reliable than when they initially left the production line. No longer constrained to 1960's technology, we painstakingly rebuild classic air-cooled 911 Porsches to CONCOURS level, integrating up to 5 decades of Porsche-only components whilst retaining and refurbishing all original components to ensure growing market value.”
