This 1957 Lowlight Karmann Ghia has undergone a no-expense spared restoration. It appeared at the VolkWorld Show in 2018 and was featured in VolksWorld magazine in January 2019.
It's an absolute head-turner. The body was separated from the floorpan in order to inspect every conceivable area. The body itself has been thoroughly restored after being blasted. Has only covered a few hundred miles since the restoration was completed in 2018.
Body: Antelope Brown body with Burnt Ash roof, Copper-Plated nose grilles. All new seals and trim.
Suspension: 2" narrowed beam, dropped spindles, KYB dampers.
Brakes: Airkewld BAD-series drilled disc brakes all round, line-lok.
Wheels: Billet Specialities Street Lite, Front 4. 5" with 135/ 70/ 15 tyres & Rear 7" with 205/ 70/ 15 tyres.
Gearbox: Professionally built Pro-Drag transmission by John Walklett, Quaife LSD, Weddle gears, 'Sway-a-Way' axles.
Interior: Race Trim seats, Crow 4-point harnesses. Seats & doorcards trimmed in beige vinyl & brown corduroy. Biscuit square-weave carpet with chocolate piping, cream wool cloth headliner. MSA-spec 6-point roll-cage by Large Engineering. ISP series gauges.
Engine: 2332cc making 198bhp. Scat crank, H-beam rods, Mahle barrels & pistons, lightened flywheel, Engle FK89 camshaft, Weber 48IDA carburettors with Gene Berg linkage, Comp Eliminator cylinder heads, fully detailed in copper. Bespoke 'Turbo Thomas' Sebring-style exhaust.
