It is our pleasure to offer our fully refurbished Chawton White Land Rover Defender 110 TD5 S/ W.
The focus of this restoration was to keep the vehicle completely original in-line with the factory specification. It has a basic specification which suited its original use within the MOD.
The vehicle started off life as a standard Defender 110 but it was then passed through to Special Vehicle Operations at Solihul in order to have it prepared for its time as a member of the MOD "White Fleet". It enjoyed a relatively easy life as a range wardens vehicle.
As with all MOD vehicles it was eventually de-fleeted and ended up in the hands of a gentleman in London. He keep it for a number of years and then passed it onto our customer. Our customer used it as a faithful furniture moving steed for 9 years and then it ended up with us.
It was always well looked after and enjoyed an outstanding maintenance record but it needed some love and attention. That is the point at which we decided to carry out a full restoration.
The pictures you see are the net results of our hard work.
We stripped her down and went through the process of checking and replacing everything that was worn or damaged. She has had 4 new doors, new glass, 4 new brake callipers, a new turbo, new fuel pump, new brakes all round, new clutch with master and slave cylinder, new swivel joints and swivel seals and new lights - the list goes on but is too long to mention here. We haven't bothered to open the engine because we've compression tested it and it's as close to factory spec as could be expected.
The body was rubbed down and has been freshly painted as well as being extensively treated against rust. All body panels were injected with wax and the (rust free) chassis tetra sealed. We have refurbished her with a view to making her last.
Inside she is like brand new with all of her original seating being recovered with an exmoor trim kit. We installed a black carpet with aim of making her slightly more comfy and quiet.
