SALE AGREED
Land Rover Discovery 1 300Tdi ‘Aviemore’ A/ C 5-speed manual, in very rare good, completely solid and mechanically overhauled condition. Original book pack, two sets of keys, MOT to November 2019 with no advisories.
Purchased from Harwoods of Croydon and owned by father and son in London from new until 2018. Always garaged and on-road use only. Purchased by me (lifelong Land Rover collector) in 2018 and substantially overhauled, now selling due to ill-health.
Since acquiring the vehicle last year - and as with all those I take into my collection - it has been the subject of a comprehensive overhaul by my team of ex-Rolls Royce engineers, with thousands of pounds worth of work being carried out.
When purchased, it was already in excellent order, with an immaculate Aviemore limited edition beige tweed interior and working air conditioning. It also benefits from a factory heated windscreen and full set of Land Rover rubber mats.
The following works have been carried out in the last 6 months:
- Major service incl cam belt + water pump, new P-gasket, glow plugs, all fluids, filters & grease points, cooling system power flushed, valve clearances, new rocker cover gasket, new aux belts and pulleys
- prop shafts removed, universal joints inspected for wear and greased, differentials checked for free play, new differential and transfer box fluids
- new exhaust
- engine oil sump cleaned & resealed
- brand new Garrett turbo (the original had not failed but was tired) + manifolds
- new brake master cylinder and fluid flush
- new diesel lift pump
- new diesel leak-off pipes
- new vacuum pump oil seal
- new viscous fan
- new air conditioning gas
- new Allisport aluminium full-width intercooler + silicone hoses
- Terrafirma polybushes throughout + 4 wheel alignment
- new Cooper Discoverer AT tyres
- slight front inner wing grommet hole rust removed, new metal, epoxy mastic primer + stone chip to underside, Bilt Hamber UB wax to inside, front wings removed at same time and epoxy primer + Bilt Hamber S50 cavity wax to inner bulkheads and cavities
- interior completely removed, floors cleaned, small amount of surface corrosion in front footwells taken back to bare metal, treated with epoxy primer, sealed, rear footwells totally rust free and sealed, original boot floor rust free and sealed, new front mud flap brackets
The vehicle drives, steers and brakes absolutely as it should and feels perfectly tight, unlike most.
Cosmetically it is very good for a Discovery 1 rather than perfect - there is a small dent and area of imperfect paint on the bonnet and the inevitable paint blistering around lower body areas - while very limited - has been arrested with black expoxy primer, which looks fine and in keeping as it is but could be improved with a small amount of respraying. The manual sunroofs are dry and draining well.
The vehicle may be purchased with the pictured Forerunner roof rack and Hannibal 1. 4m roof tent (both unused and bought new for £2, 500) by separate negotiation, or without.
The genuine Land Rover tow hitch was fitted by me in the last 6 months and is unused, the vehicle has not previously been fitted with a tow bar.
All enquiries and serious inspections welcome. The first offer of £7, 500 backed by cleared funds will secure the lot as pictured.
