1965 Hillman Minx De Luxe saloon, finished in Forest Green.
The car was purchased on 1st April 1965 by MR W. N. Gay of Exeter, it was used and cherished by him for the following 12 years being serviced by the supplying dealer and subsequently head mechanic who set up his own business after the dealers demise.
When Mr Gay passed away the car was transferred in to his wifes name, she infrequently used the car and kept up the servicing with the mechanic friend.
This is where I come in, I met the mechanic friend in the mid 90’s and over a few years kept hearing about the ‘mint’ Minx that he serviced. I met with Mrs Gay who accepted an offer from me of £1000. I purchased the car as a surprise present for my Grandfathers 80th birthday!! My Grandfather has enjoyed the car for the last 8 or 9 years in local car clubs and at various car shows but sadly has not been able to use the car properly in the last 18 months due to age and ill health....
... so the car is for sale!!!
The car is currently on SORN and does not have an MOT, the asking price is £1100 as it stands or £1000 for the car with 12 months MOT.
The car is in excellent condition and has done 90k miles from new. It drives well and starts first time. The interior is excellent also (see pictures) with some slight staining on the roof lining (this looks like remnants of the glue used to fit the lining).
The paint is 90% original, Mr Gay having scratched the OSF wing and drivers door in the early 70’s had these repainted. The paintwork is dull but looks much brighter when polished. The brightwork is in near perfect condition my Grandfather having greased it all to prevent corrosion over the winter months.
There is some slight (but solid) rust bubbling on the wings but I do not believe this has worsened in the last few years. I believe the sills etc are solid.

The car is located in Sidmouth, Devon, I am located in Horsham, West Sussex. If my costs are covered I may be willing to transfer the car to Horsham. ‘We’ may be interested in a part exchange, please let me know what you have to offer.
