In 1961, BMC made an agreement with Innocenti licensing to assemble the Mini in Milan, Italy. In 1972, Innocenti was taken over by British Leyand, the company that BMC had become a part of, and who launched the 1001, produced until 1975, in parallel with the desirable Innocenti Cooper. This adventure ended with the Nuova Innocenti with an angular shape designed by Marcello Gandini for Bertone. A couple of years later, Alejandra de Tomaso took over Innocenti.
The model on offer, sold new in Monaco to Prince Rainier III in 1974 was used for his regular commute within his principality. Later, it became the property of his son, Prince Albert II, who then handed it over to the Monaco Automobile Museum, before offering it to his doctor, who sold it to the current owner. It is equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission and is in an exceptional original condition. The black vinyl interior and grey carpet is in excellent condition, and the standard aluminum three-spoke sport steering wheel is still there as well as the original 998cc engine, whose compartment is exceptionally clean and intact. We have copies of the two Monegasque titles in the names of the two princes and a photo of the car at the museum. A unique opportunity to acquire a prince's car for a very reasonable price.
