REVISED ASKING PRICE - NOW £10, 975 o. n. o.

Are you looking for a structurally excellent early 4 Door Range Rover Classic ?

If yes, then please read this advert.

B432 SVM is a late 1984 3. 5L V8 Manual (5 Speed LT77 Gearbox) Vogue early 4 Door Model, DOR 26th October 1984, finished in original Derwent Blue Metallic with Grey Velour upholstery, having travelled just under 78, 000 miles in total (77, 892 miles at time of advert placement), it has some of the much sought after desirable features standard on the earlier models such as the vertical aluminium grill, external lockable fuel filler cap, exposed door and bonnet hinges, older style dash, older style refurbished steering wheel, long throw gear lever, "special" cubby box, rear tailgate external open lever and period ‘Range Rover‘ Stereo.

Specification is reasonably basic (by todays standards) but does include Electric Windows, PAS and Key operated Central Locking but none of the usual RRC potential problem areas i. e. No Air Suspension (simple Coils / Shocks), no Automatic Transmission (GM 3-Speed was offered in 1984 !!), no Fuel Injection (runs on Twin Strombergs), no Air Conditioning and no sophisticated (for a 1980’s RRC) electrics e. g. Sunroof / Seat Motors !!

The vehicle underwent Extensive Restoration during 2011 / early 2012 where the best parts of this car and a very similar (V8 4 Door Vogue Model in Silver also produced during late 1984) RRC were restored / rebuilt and future rust-proofed. I have over 100 digital photos (on CD) and receipts detailing this huge piece of work. There was a very strong emphasis on originality (including the 'Range Rover' lower body stripes only available on the Vogue Model), the only deviations being a useful Scorpion Immobiliser and Parrot Bluetooth System including Remote Control.

Seven (7) years and about 13, 500 miles since Restoration this RRC is currently in both excellent externally and internal condition, reflecting the quality, diligence and attention to detail when restoring.

It drives, steers and stops as a 1984 RRC should with no nasty knocks or clonks etc. MOT due on 12th November 2019 (no advisories) with approx. 650 miles travelled since last MOT in November 2018.

Here is a summary of the Restoration Work :

· New Inner and Outer Front Wings

· New Rear Chassis Crossmember

· New Drivers Footwell and New Passenger Rear Footwells

· New RH and LH Headlight Box Assemblies and Battery Carriers

· New / Restored Front Steel Front and Rear Bumpers + End Caps

· Restored and 2-Tone Painted period 5 x Vogue 3-Spoke 16 inch Alloys (+ new 205/ 80 x 16 Goodyear Wrangler AT/ S Tyres)

· Professional Waxoyling (Receipt Available) of Chassis and Body Panel internals, 18 litres used

· Restored Seat Boxes and Headlining plus new Carpet Set and new Windscreen

· New Front Shock Absorbers plus 4 x OE Mud Flap Set

· Original (and working) ‘Range Rover’ logo 4-Speaker AM/ FM Radio Cassette

· Many Many ’Ancillary Parts’ renewed and/ or reconditioned including 2 x Slave Cylinders, Brake Discs, Pads and Lines, major Engine / Transmission service including a new distributor cap and leads, recon ‘Hot Box’, new Headlights and new Engine Rear Main Oil Seal plus over £600 worth of Stainless Steel nuts, bolts, washers and fixings.

Included are restoration receipts for circa £15, 000, mainly for Parts and Specialist Services (e. g. Waxoyling, Painting and Gearbox/ Transfer Box reconditioning) but does NOT include initial 2 x RRC Purchase Cost plus purchase of a lot of the Ancillary Parts / minor work including dis-assembly and re-assembly Labour (many 100’s of Hours).

Included in the Restoration File is a 4 Page Restoration Description by the Restorer (my understanding is that he owned his own small to medium Engineering Company hence the non-receipted labour) that provides the detail and ethos associated with the above restoration summary.

The Chassis (excluding Rear Crossmember) and Base Engine (17D) were both inspected and found to be in genuinely very good condition (only 64, 500 miles at time of restoration). This is the same case today with no chassis corrosion and no known leaks from the Engine or Transmission or Axles.

Today the car stands out and still gets a lot of attention. The interior is in very good condition with no fabric rips or tears or dashboard cracks and the reconditioned headlining is not sagging. The engine runs well and does not overheat, the gearbox doesn't like going from 3rd to 2nd when cold (Ashcroft reconditioned the gearbox and indicate that this is normal for the LT77-52A) !!

All the dials, instruments and buttons work well, the only exception is that the fuel gauge shows the tank is just below three quarters full when actually full !! It even wears its original supplying dealer (Lex Mead, Bury) Number Plates !!

Included in the sale are various Operational Manuals plus BMHT Heritage Certificate plus Original BL 1984 Range Rover Sales Brochure + 1984 BL Price List plus recent Insurance (Lancaster) agreed valuations of £20, 000 and £22, 000 plus recent annual service receipts.

DVLA V5C in my name and address plus 2 x Sets of Keys / 2 x Key Fobs (for the immobiliser).

B432 SVM was restored to use and not to show, so is not a ‘concours’ example but is in excellent condition, very usable, well sorted plus minimal expenditure (e. g. periodic servicing / regular oil changes / periodic re-waxoyling etc.) is envisaged for the next 20+ years.

Additional photos are available verifying the above.

Vehicle can be viewed most times and is located in a village close to Shrewsbury.
