Description
Series 1 Land Rover 86 Inch, number the details below, with an interesting history.
Registered in January 1956 it’s first owner was a farmer. It was then purchased in the 60s by its second owner who was the proprietor of a local garage.
In the 70s it was purchased by my brother and it has been in our family until today with my ownership running for the last 26 years.
I fully rebuilt the car in 1995/ 96 then ran it for 10 years before taking the opportunity to upgrade the engine to a 3. 5L V8 in 2006. This engine has twin Webber carbs and overdrive and is quite something to drive!
The car is still running on its original chassis which is solid, as is the bulkhead. It has also benefited from new springs on the rear and shocks all round. Shocks made by Jones Springs of Birmingham and shocks supplied by Dunsfold Land Rover of Suffolk all original Land Rover parts.
I am selling the car due to lack of use in retirement and will be very sad to see her go, but am sure it will bring many happy years of tinkering and motoring to her lucky new owner.
The car is located in the Lake District.
