This is a very rare model and as far as I am aware, only 6 or 7 examples of this early “fastback” 710 saloon survive in the UK. I believe this is the oldest known UK saloon having been registered in February 1974 to a gentleman near Bury St. Edmunds. It passed into his wife’s name on his death and in turn was sold by the family when she died in 2006 after being sat in the garage for 10 years with only 37000 miles on the clock. I bought it from a guy who got it ready for the road and gave it a respray and some body repairs.
Since then I have carried out a lot of mechanical work and it runs and drives very nicely. The rear springs have recently been refurbished and new tyres fitted all round late last year. The mileage now stands at around 49000 which is of course still extremely low for a 45-year-old car. It’s also now tax and MoT exempt.
The rear arches have started to blister but other than a couple of other small blemishes, that’s really all that lets it down cosmetically. It’s completely standard in every way and is very solid underneath.
The car will come complete with a lot of mechanical and trim spares plus most of the NOS panels required to make good. For now though, it’s ready to roll for many more shows.
I’m open to sensible offers on the asking price. This is a very rare opportunity to acquire a ready-to-show early 70s Datsun in the UK.
