Descrição
Rolls Royce developed the Wraith in 1938 to be their latest most refined model ever produced. Described by motoring journalists at the time as," thoroughly enjoyable and one of the quietest vehicles they had ever driven with a powerful improved engine."
Our car chassis number WLB 39 is ex Royal Navy and is believed to have been used by Lord Mountbatten the first Sea Lord, who retired in 1958 when the car was then sold into civilian use. The fitting for the roof mounted pennant remains, and we know the car was used in a VE Day parade at the end of the 2nd world war.
It has been the subject of a complete ground up restoration regardless of cost, chassis, engine, axles, wiring, chrome, upholstery and paint etc etc.
Special features include, independent front suspension, driver adjustable shock absorbers, servo brakes, chassis lubrication system, built in hydraulic jacks, electric central privacy division, fold out occasional seats and Clayton rear heater.
The car has not been used in the wedding trade.
This is a reluctant sale as we have done less than 100miles a year since 2002 and it deserves to be used and enjoyed by a new custodian.
We have an interesting history file so please ask if you need further information.
Only 492 Wraiths were built. The heading on this listing say 1938 1939, this was carandclassic's decision not mine, the car is 1939 and they won't allow me to change it.
This is a very handsome Rolls Royce and has won many show awards including best in show at the prestigious Chatsworth Country Fair a few years ago.
