This is a very special car, being a genuine ex Met Police Morris Minor Panda car. The Morris Minor was first registered to the Metropolitan Police in September 1969 and was an early Panda patrol car.
This example is well known to the Morris Minor Owners Club, Police Car section and although not a recent restoration, the car has had a thorough and comprehensive restoration some years ago and is well documented in a detailed history file which comes with the car.
The car is in excellent all-round condition, bodywork is in very good condition. Mechanically the car is ‘on the button’ with a healthy 1098cc, ‘A’ series engine and pulls strongly. The interior is in very good condition, with excellent headlining including the original zip in the headlining which allows access to the illuminated POLICE box sign’ All the dashboard dials work correctly – she has an original Police radio fitted along with other extra authentic switches to operate the two tone siren, Police Box and Blue Light. Everything works as it should following an extensive professional re-wire which during the re-wire I took the opportunity to fit Hazard warning lights and a satnav socket. The chrome work is very good with no pitting, rust or staining.
AMP345H is the car’s original registration number and still retains all its original Met Police installed features making it a complete fully operational Police car.
It was registered new in September 1969 and has a wonderful detailed history file which contains the current V5 and shows the total ownership history, numerous expired MOT certificates dating back many years and showing the low annual increase in mileage, previous road tax discs, invoices for work completed over the past years and an original Owner’s Manual.
The car is MOT exempt and the recorded mileage is 70500 but this may increase with use.
In my opinion the car is in excellent show condition, and drives beautifully and always receives admiring looks and ‘thumbs up’ on the road or on the rally field. With an extensive history file showing that it has been nicely restored and well looked after both during my care and with previous owners and represents a piece of genuine British Police vehicle history.
