Description
We have just imported a superb 1997 Toyota Century 5. 0 V12 in Grey with lambswool interior.
For those of you who have not come across one of these amazing cars before, have a look at the programmes on youtube. It is essentially Japan's Rolls Royce with a level of quality and attention to detail that is staggering. The Century makes many of Europe's luxury cars appear lacking.
When new, the Century cost in Yen the equivalent of £85, 000 and was the choice of car in it's homeland for heads of state, diplomats, company CEO's and senior politicians. The Century has been in production since 1967 across three different generations. The first generation was produced until 1997 when it was replaced by this second generation model which is the first and only Japanese car to feature a V12 engine. This whisper quiet engine produces 280 bhp and is optimised for effortless cruising and refinement, though why Toyota never offered a Land Cruiser with this great engine is a mystery; what a car that would have been! The third generation Century has just been introduced in the last 12 months and is now a hybrid V8. The Century has always been classed as an ultra luxury car that competes with Rolls Royce, Mercedes 600, ZIL and the top Cadillac's.
Our example has covered 190450 kms at the time of writing which equates to just 118000 miles. It is finished in Rinpo Grey and has the wool interior. There is a comprehensive inspection and service record covering 13 services. Also present is the full bookpack with manuals, export certificate and Japanese auction inspection report with a grade 3. 5/ B rating.
The overall condition is superb throughout with excellent paintwork, chrome, and an interior that you'd expect from a well looked after vehicle. The underside like all our Japanese imports is in better condition than UK cars a fraction of its age.
As for specification, where do I start? There is air suspension which is again optimised for comfort, 4 speed automatic transmission, soft close rear doors and bootlid, the rear seats are fully electric and feature heating, massaging and forward/ backwards/ recline with electric headrests, electric centre storage compartment, rear vanity mirrors, rear heating and stereo controls, electric front seats, air-con, abs, traction control. The original cassette walkman & headphones for rear seat passengers, unused toolkit and wool overmats are still present.
We are in the process of registering and preparing this car and it is expected to go on a 1997/ P plate.
