I had brought this almost a month ago on here as a temporary runaround and was thinking of selling it on to get something quicker.
The car was garaged previously and driven rarely by the previous owners. Has part service history and many invoices and detailed log of all maintenance by previous owner.
Some of the things I have done since owning:
- Oil replaced with Shell Helix HX7 10W-40
- Oil filter replace with MANN-FILTER
- Antifreeze drain and replaced
(TRIPLE QX Antifreeze Red)
I have been told they used green originally but have been told the red is fine and has been used for many years by previous owner with no issues.
- Radiator Switch (FAE)
- Thermostat
Both the Thermostat and the radiator switch have been replace by myself. The temperature was sitting just below the middle before these changes. After a coolant change and changing the thermostat, the temp gauge now always sits in the middle with normal driving. I have sealed these parts with RTV and have had no leaks.
The car will come with the original set of 13" steel wheels (With wheel trims) and spare. I did purchase a set of 15" alloys for it, but the originals have better tyres and I will be using them for something else.
Put the car through an MOT on 13/ 11/ 2019 and it passed with the following advisories:
- Nearside Front Tyre slightly damaged/ cracking or perishing
- Nearside Rear Tyre slightly damaged/ cracking or perishing
- Oil leak, but not excessive
- nearside rear tyre feathering on the inner edge
I had the MOT with the set of 15" alloys which is why there are a few advisories for the tyres, but the set included with the car are in better shape. This is an old car, but is in great condition for the age both inside and out. Very little rust on the outside and is repairable. The previous owner had tried to sort some of the small rust spots, but the paint is slightly off. I have tried to re-repair one of the sections on the back by sanding it down and applying a small layer of filler. This has been painted with primer and base coat (Looks better but not exact match). Will come with original radio (Broken keeps changing radio stations but cassette player works. I have fitted an aftermarket Bluetooth radio which uses an add-in fuse to turn on/ off with ignition. I have not fitted the radio adaptor as I only use my phone for music, but this is an easy install. The radio sits fairly loose as the bracket is loose so it sits further back than normal.
Known Issues:
- Oil Leak : Have not noticed a drop in oil since changing it, but this was flagged on the MOT.
- Release Bearing : Car makes small noise sometimes when moving off from 1st gear. Have been told by the previous owner that it could be the release bearing. He mentioned it has not gotten any worse in his ownership and neither have I. If it is the release bearing, this is a cheap part but may require a mechanic to fit it.
Very simple car no power steering, ABS or Airbags and only basic features but less to wrong is the advantage. Would keep it if I had a garage for it. Please email if you have any questions. Thanks.
