Just in and being re commissioned this week.
This is a genuine UK, matching numbers, BMW R65. It’s quite unusual nowadays for these to appear in such unmolested condition, with this one still in original paint, etc. Nice to see the twin disc option up front, and a nice set of krauser panniers, complete with keys.
Reviewing the history file, the bike seems to have had little use in the last custodians 14 years of ownership, and the very respectable mileage of 44k seems genuine.
With fresh fue and oil, and a new battery, she burst straight into life (these old Boxers are quite remarkable) with the oil and charge lights extinguishing immediately, and zero exhaust smoke. Again, the engine sounds like a good boxer should. A short ride highlighted no issues at all, with gearbox, clutch and brakes all working as intended.
All in all, a great basis for a ride as is, or ride and improve, or dare i say it...... a good solid basis for a custom! (Come on, admit it, we’ve all done it at some point!). Please just ring if you’d like an honest walk round detail on the bike, as I’d be more than happy to oblige. Although some cosmetics would stand improvement, this is a good, honest bike, and we’ll be happy to put a fresh MOT on it at point of sale. As ever, compare the price, this is another great value Boxer.
