Completely original and unmodified, all the above were factory optioned upgrades as confirmed in the original Certificate of Authenticity that comes with the car.
Along with oil & filter changes every 6months/ 5k miles without fail, from approx. 100k miles onwards and in chronological order the following essential maintenance has been taken care of to keep the car running & handling in optimum condition:
- Full suspension refresh including all coffin & control arms, full alignment & corner balancing.
- Coolant expansion tank & high pressure cap replaced.
- Both radiators replaced with front bumper off and full clean between radiators & condensers twice yearly (end of autumn/ beginning of spring) to keep A/ C & coolant systems in rude health.
- Full gearbox strip & clean with all new bearings & seals, IMS & RMS inspected & replaced. Clutch & flywheel was also checked at this point and deemed to be in as new condition. Fuel filter also replaced.
- Engine mounts replaced.
- All 6 coil packs, spark plugs, exhaust lambda sensors & MAF replaced.
- Air Oil Separator replaced with full coolant system change.
- High pressure power steering line replaced and full hydraulic fluid change.
- Front & rear discs, pads, wear sensors & vibration dampers replaced.
- New set of tyres all round.
- Full front end refresh with brand new bumper, Litronic light units, bonnet gas struts and Porsche bonnet crest (this was incredibly expensive but at the time I was keeping this car for good).
- Leather interior cleaned, conditioned and protected with Gtechniq L1 Leather Guard every 3 months without fail.
When buying this one I took a lot of time to research what to look for and how these cars age. As they are now approaching classic status and so never new, the accepted wisdom is either buying low miles with all the required work coming (expensive on both counts as low mile versions of these are comfortably £20k & usually in the hands of dealers who often know nothing of the car itself) or buy a private higher miles one with all the work done (much harder as good ones don't come up often but cheaper). Being a £70k car at the time they are built to last so long as the maintenance is carried out, which exactly what's been done to this car with the above work coming in at approx. £15, 000 over the last 5 years. As such it drives beautifully with the steering light & full of feel, power delivery strong & smooth to the red line, brakes full of bite, gear changes slick & fast, oil pressure, battery charge, operating temperature and idle point all rock steady. Fuel consumption is excellent with 320 miles to a tank day to day and over 400 on long runs and does not use a drop of oil. Beautiful to look at it also sounds brilliant with the exhaust note generated by the Porsche sports exhaust one of the best. The previous owners have all been enthusiasts too which is shown in the complete history of receipts, MOTs & full original book pack that it comes with, detailing every part fitted and service carried out.
