Petrol 2286cc (Military Reconditioned from 1985). 12v RHD Soft-Top. MOT until 8th August 2020, but MOT Exempt anyway. Tax Exempt. Late Release in 1992. Pioneer Tools. Recent Canvas. Weber Carburettor. Under-Arch Tool Box. 750 Tyres with matching bonnet mounted spare. ATU's with Whip Aerials.
We are delighted to present for sale this smart Land Rover® Lightweight, in most popular RHD 12v configuration.
Externally, this lightweight is presented in good, straight condition and has just about every original feature one might hope to find on a good lightweight - front and rear bumperettes, military lenses, lifting eyes all round, full pioneer tool set with pick axe head, bridging plate, vintage plates, front and rear NATO hitches, rear trailer socket and wing-mounted ATU's with whip aerials. Although these do not serve a purpose anymore, they are purely left on for that fine, military appearance. A brand new set of 750 military chevron tyres are fitted to assist with higher speed cruising - these are also self-cleaning and long lasting. A recent canvas is fitted to complete the period look.
The interior houses three recent standard front seats, all fitted with belts and there is load matting front and rear. The dash is fairly original, and still has the military convoy light switch, heater with twin demist and military flyscreens. It is clean and tidy, and looks the part.
Out on the road, the military recon engine, coupled with Weber Carb and 750 tyres gives a really good, period driving experience. With the whip aerials attached and flexing under the wind, alongside the roar from the tyres it really is a hoot to drive - perhaps, the late release from the military has assisted with this due to the undercover storage, and care and attention languished on them whilst in the forces. Lightweights are appealing due to their ease of removing the roof, doors and dropping the windscreen onto the spare wheel, so it can be driven in the height of summer with the wind in your face - there is little available on the roads today that matches the experience one gets from driving a stripped lightweight... the marriage between 'military cool' and stripped down driving is, in our opinion, a great thing.
In summary, if you are looking for a very original lightweight with late release from the military, with all the bells and whistles one would hope to inherit upon purchase, then this could be for you.
